Content to Clients: What to Post to Get Paying Clients

Stop spraying content and hoping. This guide turns one client profile into a repeatable posting system: content that makes buyers say "that's me," a quiz that filters real prospects from fans, and truth posts that close the ones ready to buy.

The Rule Behind Every Post

Every post must do three things. If it does none of them, don't post it.

Rule 1 Aligned

The post points directly at what you sell β€” not general "value."

Rule 2 Expert

The post proves you understand the problem better than anyone.

Rule 3 Opportunity

The post creates a next step β€” a quiz, a reply, a call, a sign-up.

The system at a glance

1 · Pain Content
2 · Quiz CTA
3 · Filter
4 · Nurture
5 · Truth Post
Then it repeats: pain content attracts, the quiz filters, sorting routes each lead, truth content closes. A "no" today can re-enter the cycle as a "yes" in 3–9 months.

1 · Define Your Ideal Client Profile

Before posting anything, name exactly who you're selling to. Everything below hangs off this β€” if the profile is vague, the content is vague.

Do This First Build the profile fast

  1. Open ChatGPT and say: "How do I create an Ideal Client Profile (ICP)?"
  2. Then say: "Ask me questions one at a time, then build my ICP."
  3. Answer, review the draft, and tighten the language until it sounds like a real person you know.

What a good ICP includes

  • Who they are (role, business type, stage)
  • What they're trying to achieve
  • What's blocking them right now
  • The exact words they use to describe their problem
Why this comes first: not everyone who follows you is a buyer. With 2,000 followers, maybe a few hundred are potential customers β€” and that's fine. Your content is for the buyer, not the crowd.

2 · Map One "Stuck Moment" β€” Your Raw Material

Fill in these 8 fields for your ideal client. This single map generates dozens of posts. Do it once per client type and the system runs indefinitely.

FieldQuestion to answerExample from the workshop
Stuck momentWhen exactly are they stuck? It's 11pm and they're rewriting the same email for the fourth time.
Said out loudWhat do they mutter in frustration?"Damn, I'm talented. I just need someone to pay me for one of these."
Thought privatelyThe quiet fear they'd never post"Maybe I'm not good enough. Maybe I should just give up and start over."
Blamed problemWhat they think is wrong"There's not enough jobs. The market is saturated. AI will take my job."
Real problemWhat's actually wrongThey don't know how to communicate their value (or package it).
EmotionWhat it feels likeFrustration β†’ self-doubt β†’ despair.
If it continuesWhere it ends upBurnout. Bitterness. Hating what you used to love.
Wish they were toldThe truth you can offer"You're not crazy. It's just your packaging."

How to fill it honestly

  • Ask real people in your niche when they feel stuck β€” their words become your hooks.
  • Push past polite answers. "Confusion" is fine; "despair" is the post.
  • Go extreme on "if it continues" β€” the stronger the consequence, the stronger the content.

The payoff

  • Stuck moment + private thoughts = your "That's Me" posts
  • Emotion + consequence = your empathy hooks
  • Real problem + "wish they were told" = your truth posts and your offer

3 · Post "That's Me" Content (Most of Your Posts)

Take each field from the map and write it as a post in your client's own voice and opinions. The success test: your core buyer reads it and says "That's me. I feel so seen right now."

Example Scene post

"It's 11pm. You're rewriting the same email for the fourth time. You've tried everything β€” and you're starting to wonder if you're the problem."

Example Consequence post

"Have you lost the passion for what you do and started phoning it in? That's not burnout yet. But it's coming."

Example Private thought post

"Maybe I should just give up everything and start from scratch." β€” the thought that visits every talented generalist at 2am.

Example Blame-the-market post

"The market is too saturated. AI will take my job anyway." Sound familiar? Let's talk about what's really going on.

The honesty test: look at your last 3–5 posts. Did any of them make your core buyer say "that's me"? If not, rewrite them. And be specific: "grow your business" gets ignored β€” "attracting dream advertising clients" gets "that's me."

4 · Open With an Empathy Hook

Three proven openers. Pick one, describe the stuck moment, then land one sharp truth that proves you understand the game.

Formula 1

"You know that moment when…"

Describe the stuck moment in vivid detail. "…you're questioning your life decisions, searching for a job, and you get stuck writing your LinkedIn profile because you want it to be perfect?"

Formula 2

"If you've ever experienced [this]…"

Name the exact emotion your map captured β€” frustration, self-doubt, despair β€” so they feel understood before you've said anything else.

Formula 3

"Most of my [ideal clients] think this…"

Voice their belief ("I just need more followers"), then drop your line: the real problem is they can't communicate their value.

Words do the work: "an overlooked skill of the 21st century is writing, because words shape worlds." The hook makes them feel understood; the truth makes you the expert. Words separate content people scroll past from content people can't stop reading.

5 · Post Quiz Call-to-Actions (Your Filter)

Periodically, send people to a diagnostic quiz or 60-second assessment. People love quizzes β€” it's all about them β€” and the quiz does two jobs at once: it gives them an assessment and tells you if they're a fit.

Sample quiz call-to-actions

  • "Take this diagnostic quiz: find out what's really holding your business back."
  • "Discover your biggest growth blocker β€” and how to fix it."
  • "Take this 60-second assessment to see what stage you're in and what to do next."
  • "Have you lost the passion for what you do? Take this quiz to find out."

Make the headline specific

Swap the generic words for your niche's words:

  • "…holding your Instagram growth back"
  • "…why your Facebook ads are failing"
  • "…attracting the dream advertising clients you want"

The moment they read it, the reaction should be: "Wow β€” that's me. I'm going to learn something."

Why a quiz and not a "DM me": not everyone consuming your content qualifies as a client. The quiz separates potential buyers from general interest automatically β€” every result tells you where that person belongs.

6 · Sort Every Result: Yes / Maybe / No

Goldilocks routing. Every quiz result lands in one of three buckets β€” and each bucket gets a different, mostly automated, response.

Yes β€” Too Hot Move now

  • Get them on a call immediately
  • Invite them to a webinar
  • Pitch your program or service

They're qualified and urgent. Don't make them wait.

Maybe β€” Warm Nurture

  • Never jump on calls with maybes β€” they eat all your time
  • Put them in a multi-day / multi-week email sequence
  • Teach one small lesson at a time: "We're not a perfect fit yet. Here's what we'll do."

Over time, some maybes become yeses.

No β€” Too Cold Resource

  • Decline cleanly: budget, offer mismatch, timeline
  • Send a free digital resource β€” a Loom, PDF, or template that teaches what they're missing
  • They retake the quiz in 3–9 months and re-enter as a "maybe"

No is usually no β€” but some move up the ladder.

The critical rule: everything for "no" and "maybe" must be digital and infinitely scalable β€” a Loom, a PDF, a template, an email sequence. Never trade 1-on-1 time for unqualified leads. If someone is stuck on basics and you teach advanced strategy, your resource teaches the basics β€” so they climb from no β†’ maybe β†’ yes without touching your calendar.

7 · Post "The Truth" (Your Expertise + A-to-B Plan)

This is where expertise converts into sales. Same stuck moment, same person β€” but now you deliver the reframe only you can give, plus a plan from where they are to where they want to be.

The Structure

  1. Understand them β€” name the stuck moment one more time
  2. Appreciate them β€” there's nothing wrong with you
  3. The reframe β€” it's not you, it's the packaging / positioning
  4. A-to-B plan β€” a clear path out, and your offer is the vehicle

Example Truth post

"It's not this. It's the packaging. Package all your greatness into something people instantly understand, and better opportunities chase you down. That's exactly what my 7-step program teaches."

What every buyer wants: to be understood, to be appreciated, and a plan to get from A to B. Give all three in one post and the sale is the obvious next step. (Bonus truth for generalists: "there's nothing wrong with you; you just have to pretend to be a specialist.")
